Three senior Medical Gastroenterologists and one GI Surgeon of Nagpur in pursuit of excellence and expanding their horizons decided to merge their dreams and come together as a team. The result in the new “LGI HOSPITALS” which has come up at Dhantoli, Nagpur since May 2023.
Gastroenterology as a speciality has expanded exponentially in the last 2 decades. The speciality is now further divided into many sub specialties like Hepatology, Luminal Gastroenterology, IBD, GI Motility, Pancreato-Biliary, Third Space Endoscopy and so on. Similarly, Surgical Gastroenterology has evolved into Upper GI, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary, Colorectal, GI Oncology and Minimal invasive subspecialities. This makes it difficult for a single person to excel in all subspecialities. Keeping these limitations in mind LGI has been launched where 4 GI specialists, each with his own niche expertise, have joined hands firmly to provide Comprehensive Liver and Gastroenterology care (LGI) under one roof. No longer will patients with GI diseases have to shuttle between different centres to get treated. Collective efforts will provide the best medical care at a state-of-the-art-facility.

Dr Prashant Bhandarkar

Dr Prashant Bhandarkar has completed his MBBS and MD in General Medicine from Government Medical College, Nagpur in the years 1984 and 1988, respectively. He did DM (Gastroenterology) in 1994 from TN Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai. He worked at the prestigious Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital Mumbai as Lecturer and Associate Professor for 6 years and also trained in GI endoscopy at centres in Europe and USA. He was a PG teacher for DM (Gastroenterology) for Mumbai University and has a vast teaching experience. He also has a special interest in Hepatology, ERCP and third space endoscopy.
Dr Prashant has over 30 years of experience in critical care Gastroenterology and advanced therapeutic endoscopy. He is a pioneer in third space endoscopy in Central India doing complex procedures like POEM, EMR and ESD. He has numerous original research publications in national and international journals and textbook chapters. He is a member of various national academic bodies like ISG, SGEI, INASL and also a member of American College of Gastroenterology. He has conducted many International clinical trials and is invited as a speaker in various medical conferences. He is a motivational writer and co-author of a novel “Triple Negative”.
Dr Manoj A Vyawahare

Areas of Interest : Interventional Digestive Endoscopy (ERCP, EMR, ESD, Third space Endoscopy, EUS etc), Digestive Oncology.
Experience : Dr. Manoj A. Vyawahare is a distinguished senior consultant in Medical Gastroenterology, Interventional Digestive Endoscopy & Digestive Oncology. He had completed his graduation and postgraduation from Indira Gandhi Govt. Medical College, Nagpur. He pursued his specialization in gastroenterology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, the premier cancer institute in the world. He has vast experience in the fields of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy. His main interest is in the field of Interventional Digestive Endoscopy, and he has been the very first in Central India to perform novel interventional procedures. He has a number of national and international publications to his credit.
Dr Yogesh A Bang

Experience : Dr Yogesh Bang is an accomplished Surgical gastroenterologist and working as a Consultant GI Surgeon for 5 and a half years in Nagpur. He did his MS from GMC Nagpur and then pursued his Surgical Gastroenterology from the prestigious Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad. He has vast experience in Pancreatobiliary surgery and has performed more than 60 Pancreatic resections with great results. His work in GI oncology also stands distinguished. He regularly performs minimally invasive surgeries for the benefit of patients. Dr Bang has been actively participating in various academic activities in and around Nagpur. He has been a distinguished faculty and various state and national conferences. Dr Bang has a YouTube channel with name dr.yogeshbang on which he regulary posts surgical videos and insightful academic posts.
